The Situation
For more than 30 years, lockout tagout compliance had relied on physical padlocks, paper-based processes, and increasing layers of administration. While the importance of the process was universally recognised, the burden of compliance, paperwork, and audits largely sat with frontline workers whose primary job was maintaining equipment, not managing safety bureaucracy.
The opportunity was clear: modernise lockout tagout in a way that made life easier for workers, improved compliance outcomes, and delivered meaningful safety insight to organisations operating in rugged, high-risk environments.
Before Smartlox existed, the concept was just that … an idea.
The Solution
A.I. LAMB partnered with Smartlox from day one, working hands-on across product, brand, funding, and partnerships to translate real operational pain points into a credible, investor-backed business.
- Product vision and strategy
- Brand, identity and go-to-market
- Fundraising and network access
- Strategic partnerships and platform build
- Ongoing strategic support

“Our team at A.I. LAMB didn’t just advise Smartlox; they rolled up their sleeves and helped build the business from the ground up. From strategy and brand through to partnerships, fundraising, and early go-to-market, their work has been deeply practical and grounded in real industry experience. Without that support, Smartlox would have remained a thought bubble.”
The Outcome
Smartlox evolved from an initial concept into a global safety technology business in under four years, demonstrating clear product-market fit through strong adoption across multiple industries and geographies.
Built as a scalable, hardware-enabled SaaS platform, it continues to grow through genuine customer expansion, supporting more than 100 customers and 10,000 active users across 20–30 countries, with approximately 1,500 lockout activities completed each day and generating safety data that previously did not exist.
